On last Sunday’s edition of the Antiques Roadshow, a student notebook dating from Shakespeare’s lifetime and containing notes on the plays was examined at Caversham Park near Reading.
The tiny pocket notebook belonged to one of Shakespeare’s earliest students, and is comprised from an old musical score, with mysterious seals on the back. The programme’s manuscript expert values the notebook commercially at around £30,000, but indicates that its value to scholarship could be priceless.
