Shake-speare's Sonnets Unmasked

Theobald, Bertram, G.,  Shake-speare’s Sonnets Unmasked, Cecil Palmer, London, 1929, 1st edition, pp. 117

In this work the Editor of Baconiana and President of the Francis Bacon Society Theobald ‘begins by giving cogent reasons justifying the decision of the true  “Shake-speare” to remain concealed during his lifetime, and then proceeds to explain some of the secret methods by which he signed not only his many pseudonymous publications but even his acknowledged works. Numerous examples, on pages reproduced  verbatim from the original 1609 edition of the Sonnets, make the demonstration easy to follow.’

Theobald was an expert cryptographer. His Francis Bacon Concealed and Revealed (London, Cecil Palmer, 1930) and Shakespeare Sonnets Unmasked (London., Cecil Palmer, 1929) never received from press or public the consideration undoubtedly due to them.’

He had made exhaustive study of all aspects of the Bacon-Shakespeare problem. Although he was a convinced believer in the Cypher theory, he never let his own opinions on that subject and others of a controversial nature prejudice him against those who held contrary views.
